Academic biography

Dr Brid Murphy is an Associate Professor in Accounting in DCU Business School. Her principal research interests focus on the impact of  technological and regulatory developments on the accounting profession, and issues in accounting education, with specific emphasis on the development of non-technical competences. Brid's teaching lies primarily in the areas of auditing, ethics, governance and accounting. She is a fellow member of Chartered Accountants Ireland and has worked as an accounting practitioner in Ireland and overseas in small, medium and large companies. Brid's regularly presents her research at both national and international conferences and publishes in leading peer-reviewed academic journals, including Accounting Forum, Accounting Education and Accounting History.

Research interests

Brid's research focuses on two key research strands:  the impact of external issues on the accounting profession, with specific attention to impacts arising from technological and regulatory innovations; and issues in accounting education, with specific concentration on the development of non- technical competences.
