Academic biography

Dr Janine Bosak is Professor of Work and Organizational Psychology at DCU Business School. Janine is also the Director of Research of the Leadership and Talent Institute (LTI) at DCU and she currently serves as Representative-at-large for the Academy of Management Careers Division. She is also a former Executive Committee Member of the European Association of Work and Organizational Psychology (EAWOP) (2017-2022)

Janine completed her PhD with summa cum laude at the Department for Psychology, University of Bern/Switzerland. During her doctorate, Janine worked at the Northwestern University/USA and at the University of Cambridge/UK as a visiting research scholar. Prior to joining DCU as a lecturer in 2009, she was a Postdoctoral Researcher and Lecturer in Psychology at the Universities of Bern and Fribourg in Switzerland. Janine was also a visiting Research Fellow at Boston University/USA in 2015, a James M. Flaherty Visiting Professor at HEC Montreal/Canada in 2016, and she is currently a Visiting Professor at the Capital University of Economics and Business in Beijing/China. Other visiting appointments include the University of Ljubljana/Slovenia, Kyungpook National University/South Korea, Ghent University/Belgium, and most recently New York University/USA/

Janine conducts research, teaches and consults in the areas of 1.) Women and Leadership; and 2.) Employee Well-being in Organizations. She is also a certified and trained coach who advances the systemic and solution-focused approach to coaching. 

Janine's research programme has attracted several fellowships, grants and awards from bodies such as the European Science Foundation (ESF), Swiss National Foundation (SNF), German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), Society of Personality and Social Psychology (SPSP) and the Ireland Canada University Foundation (ICUF). Currently, Janine is a Consulting Editor of the Journal of Occupational and Organizational Psychology (JOOP) and she serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Organizational Effectiveness, People and Performance (JOEPP), the Journal of Personnel Psychology, and the German Journal of Human Resource Management. She is also a member of the Academy of Management, the European Association of Work and Organisational Psychology, and the European Association of Social Psychology. 

Janine's articles appear in journals including the Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin (PSPB), Human Resource Management (US), Human Resource Management Journal (HRMJ), International Journal of Human Resource Management (IJHRM), British Journal of Management (BJM), British Journal of Social Psychology (BJSP), and the European Journal of Social Psychology (EJSP). Her work is regularly cited in The Irish Times and features in the London School of Economics (LSE) blog and other media. Janine is available for media comment on (gender) diversity, women and leadership, employee burnout, and wellbeing in the workplace.
