Economic Security and EU Trade Policy
On Thursday, 11 September 2025, the Dublin European Law Institute (DELI) and the DCU Brexit Institute will host the event titled “Economic Security and EU Trade Policy” within the framework of our Jean Monnet Module LPF-Law.
This event will examine the evolving intersection of EU trade policy and economic security. In an era of growing geopolitical tension, the EU’s emphasis on trade liberalisation has increasingly had to be balanced with economic security. The discussion will explore the EU’s efforts to reduce supply chain risks, manage turbulent transatlantic trade relations, and respond to economic coercion while remaining internationally competitive.
The event will feature a keynote address by Phil Hogan, former European Commissioner for Trade, followed by a policy and academic panel.
