Professor Federico Fabbrini Receives DCU President’s Award for Research Impact

Professor Federico Fabbrini, founding director of the DCU Brexit Institute and Dublin European Law Institute and a leading voice in European legal studies, has been awarded the 2025 Dublin City University President’s Award for Research Impact.

The annual awards recognise researchers with sustained contributions in their field, and those making societal impact beyond academia.

At the ceremony in The Helix on DCU’s Glasnevin Campus, DCU President Professor Dáire Keogh said:

"Today, we not only showcase the awardees and their achievements, but we also celebrate the excellence of our wider research community. These annual awards are a showcase for the impact of DCU research in addressing key global challenges, and they give us an opportunity to reflect with pride on one of the core drivers of our University."

This prestigious award recognises the contribution of scientific researchers to society. DCU President Professor Dáire Keogh awarded the prize in recognition of Professor Fabbrini’s thought leadership in European affairs, particularly on Brexit, EU constitutional law, fiscal and economic governance, and the future of Europe.

Professor Fabbrini has authored five major monographs in English, three books in Italian, and edited or co-edited a dozen others, including a landmark five-volume Brexit series. He has also contributed numerous studies for the European Parliament and Ireland’s Department of Finance. Securing over €3 million in funding, he has positioned DCU as a leading center for European studies with real-world impact. Professor Fabbrini is the first legal scholar to receive the honour.
