Dr. Niall Moran Publishes New Book on Trade and Investment Dispute Settlement
We are pleased to announce the publication of International Trade and Investment Dispute Settlement. From Rise to Crisis and Reform, by Dr. Niall Moran, Assistant Professor in Economic Law at DCU and Deputy Director of the Brexit Institute, co-authored with Professor Giorgio Sacerdoti of Università Bocconi and former chair of the WTO Appellate Body.
This book provides a comprehensive and comparative analysis of the trade and investment regimes, tracing in parallel their historical development, institutional and procedural features, and the current crises and reform efforts both systems are currently undergoing. It reviews the criticisms levelled against both regimes, explores ongoing reform efforts, and engages in the debate about the future of dispute settlement in international economic law by evaluating possible outcomes.
The book was launched on Monday, 9 June 2025, at Università Bocconi and is available to purchase in print and as an e-book. It is expected to be of interest to scholars, students, international lawyers, adjudicators, and policymakers engaged in the fields of trade and investment law and dispute settlement. The authors look forward to engaging with readers in the weeks and months ahead.
