Academic biography

Anne Marie Kavanagh (PhD) lectures in Ethical and Intercultural Education in the School of Human Development, DCU Institute of Education. She was awarded the Michael Jordan Fellowship in Education at St. Patrick’s College in 2009 and completed her PhD under the supervision of Professor Fionnuala Waldron and Dr. Audrey Bryan.  Her doctoral research critically examined the models of intercultural education emerging in Irish primary schools. She is secretary of the SPHE Network and a member of the Centre for Human Rights and Citizenship Education and The Children’s Rights Alliance.  She was awarded the INTO Vere Foster Medal in 2004 and taught multi-grade classes for six years in Rathgar National School, Dublin 6.
