We are excited to welcome you to our Spring Open Day on Saturday 13 April 2024 as follows:
 

  • Glasnevin Campus (10am until 3pm)
     
  • St Patrick's Campus (10am until 2pm)
     

We have Course Talks on 79 Undergraduate degrees, a host of Support Talks, lots of Campus Tours and some new additions including:
 

 University Taster Lectures
Graduate Panel with Q&A Session
We are offering students a chance to attend a university Taster Lecture in Business, Humanities & Social Sciences, Engineering & Computing and Science & Health on our Glasnevin Campus. There will be a number of Education sessions on our St Patrick's Campus.  There will be a Graduate Panel with Q&A session on both campuses. You can hear from recent Graduates talk about their student life experience together with their employment opportunities since graduating from DCU.

Róisín Agnew

1. Róisín Agnew - 2023 Bachelor of Business Studies

Róisín graduated in 2023 after completing 4 years in the Bachelor of Business Studies course. Since graduating, Rosin has acquired an 18 month Graduate Programme with Vodafone Ireland. In her role as an Internal Communications and Engagement Executive, Róisín and her team work together to create unforgettable experiences, bringing the customer voice and culture to life, connecting people, wherever they are.  

Alex Norton

Alex Norton

2. Alex Norton - 2020 BSc in Computer Science

Alex graduated from the BSc in Computer Science in 2020 and is currently employed as a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) at Workday, a student information system software vendor. Alex works on a range of software development tasks and most recently has been working on AI Slack bots to improve the development experience for other engineers.

 

Shannon Reilly

Shannon Reilly 

3. Shannon Reilly - 2015 BA in Communication Studies 

Shannon graduated in 2015 after completing 3 years on the BA in Communication Studies course. She then spent time in Chicago before completing an MSc in Marketing from TUD. Since completing her studies, Shannon has held roles in both the public and private sectors including working on PR and Marketing Campaigns for the Game of Thrones and ‘The Open’ with Tourism Northern Ireland, Belfast. Shannon is currently the Brand Manager for Keogh's Crisps, managing their brand portfolio at home and overseas.   
 

 

Omar Rayan

Omar Rayan

4. Omar Rayan - 2022 BSc in Biotechnology 

Originally from Egypt, Omar studied BSc in Biotechnology graduating in 2023. Initially his interests were a combination of Biology with some Maths/Engineering however his Biotechnology degree ended up being the perfect combination of both. Omar completed his INTRA internship in a leading biopharmaceutical company in 4th year and from there he became really interested in Biopharma and drug/medication production, and secured a leading Graduate Programme role after graduation.

1. Rachel Huang - 2023 Bachelor of Business Studies

A 2023 graduate of Business Studies, currently employed as an FS Audit Associate at KPMG Ireland, specialising in financial services and aircraft leasing.
 

 

Alan Goleac

Alan Goleac

2. Alan Goleac- 2023 Bachelor of Arts: Joint Honours: Law and Spanish

Alan graduated from DCU in 2023 with a Bachelor of Arts: Joint Honours in Law and Spanish, taking year 3 abroad. While studying in DCU, he was a Student Ambassador. Since graduating, Alan has moved to Belfast, where he works as a Regulatory Paralegal with the Pharmaceutical Society of Northern Ireland. Primarily, he works as part of an in-house legal team on Fitness-to-Practice cases. This involves the regulation of all pharmacists registered within Northern Ireland and, when necessary, taking action to ensure patient and the public are protected.

 

Kate Gurren

3. Kate Gurren- 2020 Bachelor of Arts in Communications Studies 

Kate Gurren is a graduate of the 2020 class of Communication Studies in DCU. She quickly entered the field of television production, working as a Production Assistant with acclaimed commercial production, Antidote under the incredible Director-Producer duo, Ken Wardrop and Andrew Freedman. She rose the ranks to Production Coordinator, working on high-level campaigns for companies such as Eir, AIB and even held an umbrella over Supervalu's famous reindeer. Alongside this, she assisted on several feature documentaries with sister production company, Venom Films. She has since become a Freelance Production Coordinator, working with companies such as Motherland and Tiny Ark. Her passion for Irish music and film combine in a long list of producing credits for music videos, including Lemoncello, Rachael Lavelle and Tebi Rex.

 

George Mihailescu

4. George Mihailescu - 2019 BSc Physics with Biomedical Sciences

George graduated from the 4 year BSc Physics with Biomedical Sciences in 2019. He learned so many different things: from the important and fundamental physics classes (such as Quantum Mechanics and Thermodynamics), learning how to program, wire electrical circuits, participate in interesting lab work, all the way to learning about the physics of how people walk! Despite learning about so many fascinating things, the highlight of his degree was of course getting to know the Physics faculty, classmates, and everyone else around DCU! George is now continuing his journey in Physics as a Researcher in the area of quantum physics, looking at the fundamental aspects of quantum mechanics and applications of quantum technologies as sensors and transistors.

5. Faith Dempsey - 2021 BEng Mechatronic Engineering

Faith graduated from BEng Mechatronic Engineering course in 2021. Since graduation, she has had several engineering roles in Ireland. Faith currently works as a Process Engineer for Intel in Leixlip.

Cillian Walsh

Cillian Walsh

1. Cillian Walsh - 2019 Bachelor of Religious Education with History and 2023 Masters in Education and Training Management (Leadership)

Cillian began his DCU journey in 2015, studying the Bachelor of Religious Education and History. Upon graduation, he was awarded the BRelEd Award for School Placement. Cillian has been a teacher of RE & History in Ardgillan College since 2019. In 2021, he returned back to DCU to study the Masters in Education and Training Management (Leadership). Cillian now holds a post of responsibility for Learning & Teaching in his school. 
 

 

Olivia Sneyd

Olivia Sneyd

2. Olivia Sneyd - 2021 Education and Training

Olivia came to DCU as a mature student to study the BSc in Education and Training (Further, Adult and Continuing Education). As a result of a job advertised through DCU Career services, Olivia now works as the Assistant Program Coordinator in Together Academy, a job which she adores. Together Academy is a unique training college and employment initiative aimed at providing young adults with Down Syndrome specialised and individually catered skills and training.
 

 

Seana McKeever

3. Seána McKeever - 2020 Bachelor of Early Childhood Education 

Seána studied Early Childhood Education. Since Graduating in 2020, Seána has been working as an Early Years Teacher in a community crèche. Seána came into DCU from a Post Leaving Certificate Course. Throughout her 4 years, she has enjoyed many amazing experiences including School Placements, DCU Societies and DCU & Disability Servce Student Ambassador work.

Throughout the day, there will be over 75 course talks across Business, Humanities & Social Sciences, Engineering & Computing and Science & Health. 

 

There will be a number of course talks including Primary Teaching, Secondary Teaching, Early Childhood Education and Education & Training. 
 

Talks will be delivered by our lecturers to give you a real insight into each course

Support Talks
 Glasnevin Campus 
St Patrick's Campus 
Visitors can attend talks on Accommodation, Placements (INTRA), Study Abroad, Sports and Performance (including Sports Scholarships), Assistive Technology, Students Life and Parents/Guardians Advice.    There will be a talks on Accommodation, Sports and Performance (including Sports Scholarships) and Parents/Guardians Advice. Students can visit Glasnevin Campus for additional talks.

Highlights include student *accommodation, our award-winning sports centre and the beautiful three-storey John and Aileen O’Reilly Library. Highlights include *student accommodation, the four-storey Cregan Library with its impressive views of Dublin and our Minecraft studio.

Faculty Tours (Glasnevin Campus only)

There will be a wide range of tours taking place throughout the day. Please select your choice of tours on our Registration Form below as places are limited at peak times.

 Glasnevin Campus only 
Business School
Our Business School (building Q) will host Virtual Reality sessions on the ground floor. Places are limited. Please register below.
Engineering and Computing  
The Faculty of Engineering and Computing will also be conducting a wide range of demonstrations in the Stokes (S) Building.

Students can take tours of our Engineering facilities too.
 

Humanities 
Media facilities including the TV and Radio studios (School of Communications) and the Language and Translation Laboratories (School of Applied Language and Intercultural Studies). 

Studios will be open to visitors who register to attend the subject talks. Students interested in our Law courses can take a tour of Moot Court.

Science and Health
Students can take tours of our Nursing facilities (H) Building to see first hand the modern facilities and equipment. 

Selected Schools within the Faculty of Science and Health will provide tours and/or demonstrations in the science labs, skills centres and atrium of the Lonsdale (X) Building.
 

 

Complimentary Intercampus Bus

A complimentary bus will run between the DCU Glasnevin and DCU St Patrick’s Campuses on the day – check the Open Day Guide for departure locations and times.
