Abstract

Smart Cities provide a wealth of opportunities for connected and efficient living. However, they also place a large demand on communications infrastructure. 

These cities require a large number of devices: appliances in homes, wearable devices, vehicles, laptops, and smart grids.

These devices, known collectively as the Internet of Things are embedded with sensors which monitor environmental information and transmit it in real-time via the internet.

Even with massive computing resources, the scale of data transfer can create access issues. DCU researchers have hit upon a potential solution.
