Fare Costs

In 2022, the TFI 90 Minute Fare (TFI 90) was launched. This reduced rate fare is applicable to most journeys in the Dublin area. It includes the option to transfer for free between Dublin City Bus (Dublin Bus and Go-Ahead Ireland), Luas, DART and commuter rail (zones 1-4 in the Short Hop Zone).

To avail of this fare, the Leap Card is tapped on the first leg of a journey, the commuter can then change transport mode as often as needed and then touch on again at the start of the last leg of the journey.

Once the commuter touches on the last journey within 90 minutes of the first they will only be charged the TFI 90 Fare.

Concession tickets at student/young adult fare rates are offered to holders of Student and Young Adult (19-23) Leap cards only. All other forms of student identification will no longer be acceptable. Taxsaver Commuter Ticket Scheme

This scheme is available to DCU staff. It is a salary sacrifice arrangement where DCU purchases annual commuter tickets on behalf of employees and the cost is recuperated through payroll, thus employees don’t pay PRSI, USCI or pension-related deductions.

The savings on your travel expenses can be quite significant. The Scheme applies to the Annual Travel Passes issued by Irish Rail, Dublin Bus, Luas, Bus Eireann and Matthews Coaches.

Find more information on the DCU Travel Benefits page or on Taxsaver.ie.
