Crossmolina National School Receives DCU AFU Special Recognition Award
DCU Age Friendly University is proud to announce that Crossmolina National School in County Mayo has been awarded a Special Recognition Award at the Intergenerational Solidarity Award ceremony, making them the first national school in Ireland to receive this prestigious recognition.
The school’s winning entry, the Crossmolina Board Game, was developed as a fundraiser and features every square designed by the school’s talented students. The project was commended for its creativity, intergenerational appeal, and strong focus on problem-solving and community connection.
This award, traditionally given at the Transition Year level, marks a milestone for primary education, highlighting the incredible innovation and age-friendly thinking happening at every stage of learning.
We warmly congratulate the students, staff, and wider school community at Crossmolina NS. Their work is a powerful example of how even our youngest learners are contributing to a more inclusive, connected, and age-friendly society.
