
Refund of Fees
I. REFUND OF FEES
1. Fee deposits on all courses are non-refundable under any circumstances.
2. The University accepts no obligation to refund any fee, or part thereof once a student registers on a course.
3. Students remain liable for fees for the period of registration up to the date they officially withdraw from the University.
To officially withdraw a student must return their student card and withdraw via their student Apps. page.
Failure to withdraw formally will hold the student liable to the full fee for the academic year.
4. Refunds to grant holders or sponsored students, who have paid fees and/or a deposit pending approval of a grant, are issued only when the University has received the fee payment from the grant authority or sponsor.
These refunds are issued automatically and do not need to be claimed from the University.
5. Refunds are issued directly to the students who transfer to another third level institution as a result of a higher CAO offer.
6. Payments made by credit/debit card are rebated directly to the cardholder's account. Refunds made 180 days or more after payment must be issued by EFT.
Students awaiting a refund must enter their bank details online via their student Apps.
II. REFUNDS TO UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS
A. EU Students eligible for "Free" Fees
1. Students who withdraw on or before 31st October and transfer to another University as a result of a higher CAO offer will receive a full refund of any payments made in respect of the Student Contribution Charge.
2. Students who withdraw before 31st of January - Liable to pay 50% Student Contribution. Half HEA will be claimed and student liable to pay half HEA/tuition should they return to college.
3. Students who withdraw after 31st of January - Liable to pay 100% Student Contribution. Full HEA will be claimed and student is liable to pay full HEA/tuition should they return to college.

5. Students who officially withdraw on or after the 1st February are liable for payment of the full Student Contribution Charge (€3,043).
In addition DCU will claim the full tuition fees due from the HEA. Please note this will affect the student’s liability should s/he go on to further education.
NOTE: Student accounts with outstanding fees at the end of the academic session will be referred to a third party collection agency.
B. EU - Fee-paying Undergraduate students
1. Students who withdraw on or before 31st October and transfer to another University as a result of a higher CAO offer will receive a full refund of any fees paid.
2. Students who officially withdraw before end 31 January are liable for payment of 60% of the total course fee.
3. Students who officially withdraw on or after the 1st February are liable for payment of the full tuition fee.
C. Non-EU Undergraduate students
Students who have applied for a visa in order to travel to Ireland to study must note the following:
1. Non-EU students who are refused a visa must provide a copy of the refusal letter from the Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform as part of their application for a refund of tuition fees. An administrative charge of €150 applies.
2. Students who officially withdraw before 31st January inclusive are liable for payment of 60% of the total course fee.
3. Students who officially withdraw on or after the 1st February are liable for payment of the full tuition fee.
NOTE: Student accounts with outstanding fees at the end of the academic session will be referred to a third party collection agency.
III. REFUNDS TO POSTGRADUATE STUDENTS
(Semester 1)- Students who withdraw during semester 1 are liable for 60% of the total fee due
(Semester 2) - Students who withdraw during semester 2 are liable for 100% of the total fee due
Students must formally withdraw before any refund will be issued
NB: Students must input their bank details online via their student Apps. page in order for a refund to be issued.
