Some 40 participants from the Mellie project (Migrant English Language Literacy and Intercultural Education), graduated on Wednesday 17th April 2024 at the Irish Museum of Modern Art.

The project, led by Dr Julie Daniel from SALIS and supported by the University of Sanctuary, has been running since 2017. For a whole semester, DCU staff and students are paired up with people from a forced displacement background.

The project aims to foster hospitality and friendships through storytelling and art. In recent years, Mellie has partnered up with the Irish Museum of Modern Art who hold a series of workshops on site and host the Graduation ceremony.

Many thanks to Phelan Conan Associates Ltd for kindling loaning the academic robes and contributing to making this event a success.
