Application form for Internal Transfer Applicants -  1st Year Only

This form is for current first year DCU students seeking to transfer into first year of another programme. The application form will open on 1st May 2021.

There is a €35 transfer application fee, this fee will not be processed until the applicant has been notified that their application has been successful. Please continue in your current programme until you have been notified of the outcome of your application.

Please note that approval for an internal transfer is subject to the applicant meeting the criteria indicated in the category outlined below, the programme entry requirements, the availability of places on the programme and appropriate Faculty approval. Some programmes may have additional criteria or requirements for internal transfer applications. Due to the competitive nature of transfers, applications will be assessed on a first come first served basis.

While it is not obligatory, applicants are advised to consult with the Student Advice Centre or the DCU Careers Service to discuss your application to transfer. The finance office should also be consulted to ascertain possible fee liabilities.

Eligibility Criteria

Please check that you meet the Eligibility Criteria before you make your application.

I am a first year student who has successfully completed year 1 of my current programme and is applying to transfer to year 1 of another programme. I have passed all Semester one and Semester two assessments/examinations and I have met the specific programme entry requirements - Closing date for applications is 1st July.

Please note: If you have not successfully passed your current programme, you can apply for the course at www.cao.ie. You must meet programme entry requirements and the points for your chosen course.

I am a first year student who has successfully passed my repeat/failed/deferred assessments/examinations in August and I want to transfer to another first year programme and I have met the specific programme entry requirements. Closing date Monday 11th October 2021.

I am an incoming first year student who wants to transfer to year 1 of another programme. I have attained the leaving certificate points for the programme I wish to enter and I have met the specific programme entry requirements. (CAO points can be checked at the following linkClosing date Monday 11th October.

Note: There are a very limited number of internal transfer places available each year. Internal transfer places remain only on a small number of programmes. Any remaining places will be offered on a first come first served basis.

When you register with Registry you will be required to complete a registration process and to provide certain personal data to Registry, which is necessary for you to register with the University. DCU Registry may also obtain personal data relating to you from other sources e.g. CAO/PAC process. Your personal data will be retained by the University for the duration of your enrolment on a course of study at the University and for a reasonable period thereafter, including for alumni relations purposes as described in the Privacy Policy. While Registry does not generally seek or collect special categories of personal data (e.g. medical/health data or data relating to race/ethnicity), in certain circumstances it will do so. An example includes the processing of medical certificates for consideration in relation to the student academic record (e.g. postponements and extenuating circumstances).
