**** IMPORTANT MESSAGE ****

The purpose of this information sheet is to allow you to view all modules connected to the Qualification, optional and core.

You should print this sheet out and then continue to the next step where your registration will take place.

It is your responsibility to ensure that you register correctly.

**********

1. The maximum amount of modules you can register for in one academic year is 4 modules

2. Students in their first year must register for the foundation module of a subject but can also register for the immediate post-foundation module as shown below

His1

Lit1

SC100

PH100

His2

Lit2

SC200

PH200

3. From your second year you cannot take two even or odd numbered modules in the same subject in the one academic year e.g. you cannot register for LIT3 and LIT5 in the same year.

3.1 The following modules count as even numbered modules: SC200: Sociology of the Life    Course, SC300: Sociology of Health & Illness, PH220: Philosophy of Education, Teaching, Pedagogy and Practice and PH200: What can I know? Philosophy of Knowledge

3.2 The following Philosophy module counts as an odd numbered module: PH310: Philosophy and Religion: Historical and Contemporary Relationships.

4. It is advisable for students who wish to register for HIS5 to not take this module along with HIS6.  This module requires students to complete a research paper which requires a high level of commitment.

5. Students must have previously completed at least four History modules before registering for HIS6.

6. It is advisable for students to have completed SC100, SC200 and SOC3A before registering for SOC5B which is an advanced level module.

7. PHIL6, LIT6, HIS6: Please note these are advanced modules and involve the completion of a dissertation. This type of module requires a high level of commitment and therefore students should carefully consider registering for this module along with other modules. Many students find it desirable to take this type of module on its own, or with one other module (the feasibility of taking this module in combination with other modules will of course depend on the capability of the student and the amount of time the student can dedicate to their studies).

8. Students who seek to enter directly into intermediate or advanced modules, through the BASM programme, may be asked to provide evidence of appropriate previously achieved learning that would allow them to engage with such a module. Entry may be refused to advanced modules.  In order to ascertain if you are eligible to enter directly into intermediate or advanced modules please contact  the programme chair
