SUBMISSION DATES FOR AUTUMN GRADUATION 2023
Postgraduate research students who wish to be considered by the Autumn 2023 Faculty Awards Boards for Research Degrees (FABRD) in September 2023 must ensure that the documentation listed below is submitted to Student Awards, Registry (Henry Grattan Building, Glasnevin Campus) at the latest by the dates shown below. The FABRD meeting dates are 20th - 22nd September 2023.

SUBMISSION DATES FOR SPRING GRADUATION 2024
Postgraduate research students who wish to be considered by the Spring 2024 Faculty Awards Boards for Research Degrees (FABRD) in January 2024 must ensure that the documentation listed below is submitted to Student Awards, Registry (Henry Grattan Building, Glasnevin Campus) at the latest by the dates shown below. The FABRD meeting dates are 24th - 26th January 2024.

There are no closing dates for the majority of research applicants (although this may be subject to change). Deadlines can apply for professional doctorate programmes. See the Making a Postgraduate Research Application section for more information. |
PGR2 Annual Progress Report |
Deadline is usually by the end of June - Please check the Academic Calendar for this years submission date - Please follow this link to the PGR2 Online System All continuing students (including final year, card fee registrations and recent transfers) must submit a PGR2 by the deadline each year. |
PGR3 Application for Confirmation on, or Transfer to the PhD Register |
No earlier than one year after initial registration but, at most, after twenty-one months research for full-time students and at an appropriate corresponding time for part-time students. The completed form should be submitted to Registry at least 2 weeks in advance of the scheduled meeting of the Graduate Research Studies Board (GRSB) – see Registry Submission Dates for PGR Forms above for relevant dates. |
PGR4 Notification of Intention to Submit for Examination |
Candidates are required to give at least 3 months notice of their intention to submit for examination. See key dates for graduation ceremonies above. The completed form and a typed 300-word abstract that includes the candidate's name and student number should be submitted to Registry at least 2 weeks in advance of the scheduled meeting of the Graduate Research Studies Board (GRSB) – see Registry Submission Dates for PGR Forms above for relevant dates. |
PGR6 Examination Report for the Award of a Higher Degree |
The completed form should be submitted to Registry in advance of the Faculty Awards Boards for Research Degrees (FABRD) and should only be delivered by the Independent Chairperson / Internal Examiner. See key dates for graduation ceremonies above. |
PGR7 Thesis Access Consent |
Candidates are required to complete and submit this form to Registry at the time of submission of the thesis for examination. See key dates for graduation ceremonies above. |
PGR8 Application for Restriction of Access to Thesis |
Candidates may request and obtain temporary restriction of access up to a maximum of four years for sufficient cogent reasons. An application for the restriction of access must be approved and signed by the student's supervisor. The completed form should be submitted to Registry in advance of the Faculty Awards Boards for Research Degrees (FABRD). See key dates for graduation ceremonies above. |
PGR12 E-Thesis Submission Declaration |
One additional copy of the thesis must be submitted in electronic format, uploaded to a secure web space (DORAS, Library Repository) by the Principal Supervisor. The candidate will be required to sign the completed form and it should be submitted to Registry in advance of the Faculty Awards Board for Research Degrees (FABRD) meeting.
