Derogation (1) Compensation Depending on the total credits associated with the examination module(s) being considered for compensation, the marks obtained in each of these module(s) must not be lower than the following thresholds, where the pass standard is 40%: Up to 10 credits - 30% Up to 15 credits - 35% Students who achieve a mark of less than 30% in any examination module(s) cannot benefit from compensation. |
Derogation (2) Where a module consists of a continuous assessment element and an examination element, students will not be required to pass both constituent elements of the module in order to be deemed to have passed, as long as an overall module mark of 40% is achieved. |

Derogation (1) When a student repeats a module, the student's overall mark in that module will be capped at 40%. |
Derogation (2) For the Graduate Diploma in Education and Training, an award at Credit or Distinction classification may be considered in circumstances where the candidate has availed of more than one attempt to pass a required Examination Module. However, such a decision remains at the discretion of the Programme Board. |
Derogation (3) For the MSc in Education and Training, an award at Honours classification may be considered in circumstances where the candidate has availed of more than one attempt to pass a required Examination Module. However, such a decision remains at the discretion of the Programme Board. |
