faculty review

Thank you for your application for postgraduate study with Dublin City University (DCU). Your Application has been marked for review by the faculty responsible for your programme.

Assessment of your application by faculty

You should note the following in relation to the assessment of your application by faculty.

  • Faculty assessment may not occur until after the closing date for submission of applications to a programme. This allows all applications to be processed together and to allocate places based on the standard of applicants. The submission date is indicated in programme information on our website. You should not expect to get a final decision until approximately two weeks after this date. It is not necessary to contact the faculty directly prior to this time.
  • Note: Research applications are normally assessed on a rolling basis without deadlines. Please check the course you are interested in for details.
  • Where an applicant has not completed their final year of studies, their application will still be passed onto faculty for decision. A faculty can decide to make an offer conditional on the applicant attaining a certain level of performance in their final year results or it may decide to refrain from making a decision until evidence of final year examination results have been submitted. In all circumstances, the applicant should ensure that final year examination results are submitted to the Postgraduate Applications Centre (PAC) as soon as available. Transcripts / statements of examination results in a language other than English should be accompanied by certified translation in to English.
  • The faculty reserves the right to request additional information to support your application including, where necessary, interviewing a candidate as part of the assessment process.

Contacting faculty staff

  • The assessment of applications will occur in accordance with the guidelines outlined above.
  • Each postgraduate programme is allocated a course director / programme chairperson from within a faculty who is responsible for making the final decision regarding an application.
  • Applicants should not engage in the practice of canvassing academic staff for placement on a programme of study. Candidates may complete a personal statement and submit this as part of the application process.
