Unsuccessful application
Thank you for your application for postgraduate study with Dublin City University (DCU). Unfortunately, on this occasion you have been unsuccessful in obtaining a place on your preferred D.C.U. programme
Unsuccessful applications
There are many reasons why an application may not be successful. All applicants must meet the entry requirements for the programme. However, where the number of qualified applicants is in excess of the number of places available, it becomes necessary to rank candidates in order of merit. As such it may be that an applicant had met the entry requirements but the level of competition for places on the programme was high.
Other reasons as to why an application has not been successful are:
- Insufficient relevant work experience
- Additional information provided with application (e.g. essay, portfolio) did not meet the standard required for the programme
What happens next?
Applicants who have applied for more than one course will now have their second or third choice assessed as follows:
- .Applications will no longer be processed if all three choices have been unsuccessful
In the event that an application is no longer being considered, applicants can re-apply for consideration in future years. That an application has not been successful will have no bearing on any future application that might be made. However, careful consideration should be given to the reasons why an application was unsuccessful as it may indicate a need to attain more educational experience before a new application to similar programmes is made in the future.
Thank you for your interest in postgraduate study at DCU.
