The Student Entrepreneur Awards is Ireland's largest student enterprise awards programme, and this year will mark the 43rd year since the beginning of the competition.
The Student Entrepreneur Awards competition is open to all full-time registered third level students in Ireland and is an annual event led and managed by Enterprise Ireland with a number of co-sponsors, including Cruickshank, Grant Thornton and the Local Enterprise Office.
Enterprise Ireland recognises that young entrepreneurs are a seed bed for entrepreneurship and business startups, so this programme is directly focused on encouraging young enterprising students who may consider entrepreneurship as a career development option. Participating student teams have a chance to win cash prizes totalling €35,000 in addition to receiving business consultancy advice from Enterprise Ireland and the programme sponsors.
If you know of any talented students who would like to participate in this year’s competition, please ask them to email Carmell Dillon in Enterprise Ireland (carmel.dillon@enterprise-ireland.com) in order to be added to the distribution list for the competition’s updates.
If you intend to apply to, or are interested in any Horizon Europe research funding calls with deadlines coming up this spring, please let Amy Hall, the Senior European Research Development Officer (amy.hall@dcu.ie), or your Faculty RDO know as soon as possible so that the Research Development team can better support you with your planning and proposal development.
For several of the Pillar II Clusters, these spring calls are the last ones before the current Work Programme ends, so please take a look at the EC Funding and Tenders portal and current Work Programmes to see if any of the open calls align with your future research plans.
Congratulations to Dr Éadaoin Carthy, Abrar Abdelsalam (both from the School of Mechincal & Manufacturing Engineering) and Prof. Colleen Murrell (School of Communications) on their success in writing for The Conversation in the last two weeks.
DCU has recently become a member institution of The Conversation, an online news outlet which publishes current affairs analysis on topics ranging from the continued proliferation of ‘forever chemicals’ to the ethics of reporters embedding with military forces on either side in Gaza.
If you are interested in pitching to The Conversation or would like information on training materials contact Conor O’Donovan at conor.odonovan@dcu.ie or (for FSH) Sean Duke at sean.duke@dcu.ie.
