Biography

Dr Paul Grimes is an Assistant Professor in Mathematics Education in the School of STEM Education, Innovation and Global Studies, Dublin City University. He is a member of the Centre for the Advancement of STEM Teaching and Learning (CASTeL). He is a qualified Mathematics and Physics teacher, and his PhD research used design based research to investigate pre-service teachers' views of inquiry based learning. He currently lectures in mathematics to pre-service primary school teachers. Current research interests include the use of design based research in education, discourse and sense-making in mathematics and physics and research in initial teacher education in mathematics and science. He is currently working on the Erasmus+ project Three Dimensions of Inquiry in Physics Education, with a particular interest in developing and evaluating an educational design research framework for the project.
