Biography

Una McCabe holds a PhD in the area of Drama and Early Childhood Education from University College Cork.  Her M.A at the National College of Art and Design focussed on a study of the Arts in Early Childhood Education.  She is a graduate of the Drama Studies degree programme at Trinity College Dublin.  She has lectured in Drama in Education since 1998 and her teaching experience includes the pre-school, primary, secondary, vocational and international sectors.  Una has also led workshops for children at the Ark Children's Cultural Centre and the Hugh Lane Gallery.  She was pedagogic co-ordinator and researcher of MUS-E Ireland, a three year joint action research project in association with The Arts Council (Ireland) and a component of the international Arts Education programme of The Yehudi Menuhin Foundation (Brussels). Una is the author of Classroom Drama: A Practical Guide.

My research interests include drama and pedagogy, sociodramatic play, interactions in arts rich classrooms and the impact of power on children's play.
