Paul Grimes
Dr.

Paul Grimes is an Assistant Professor in Mathematics Education in the School of STEM Education, Innovation and Global Studies, Dublin City University. He is a member of the Centre for the Advancement of STEM Teaching and Learning (CASTeL). He is project coordinator and principal investigator for the Erasmus+ funded Supporting Transitions Across Mathematics and Physics Education (STAMPEd) project. Research interests include the use of design based research in education, discourse and sense - making in mathematics and physics, and research in teacher education in mathematics and science. He lectures in the areas of mathematics education and physics education on primary and post-primary initial teacher education programmes.
Before joining the school he worked as a postdoctoral researcher on both the Three Dimensions of Inquiry in Physics Education (3DIPhE) and Open Schools for Open Societies (OSOS) projects. He has a PhD in physics education and before this qualified as a second level mathematics and physics teacher.
