Siobhan graduated with a BSc in Athletic Therapy and Training from Dublin City University in 2009. She completed a MSc on training load in Gaelic footballers and a PhD examining the epidemiology and risk factors for injury in adolescent and collegiate Gaelic games. She is currently Professor on the BSc in Athletic Therapy and Training in DCU. She was the Vice President of Athletic Rehabilitation Therapy Ireland (ARTI) from 2009-2017, former Chair of the ARTI Ethics Committee and Vice President of the World Federation of Athletic Therapy and Training (WFATT) (2018-2023).
Professor O'Connor research agenda is deeply rooted in supporting under-served populations, with a primary focus on women's health, mental health, injury prevention and concussion. She has extensive expierence in community sports (Gaelic games, horse racing and female sports) and high stress occupations (farming, clinicians etc.). She has also served on the organising committees for the World Federation of Athletic Therapy and Training (WFATT) World Congress and the Faculty of Sports and Exercise Medicine Annual Scientific Conference.

Research Interests
Siobhán's main research area is injury surveillance and injury prevention. Her research interests are of a multi-disciplinary applied clinical nature, focusing on research areas that pave the way for the development of injury prevention strategies in under-researched populations such as young adults, female athletes, community sports etc. She also has a keen interest in mental health, particularly mental health help-seeking and burnout in athletes and high stress occupations.
