Michelle Dunne (PhD Student) has a B.A. in English and Modern Irish and an M.A. in Modern Irish from Maynooth University. The minor placenames and folklore of Rathconnell Civil Parish, Co. Westmeath were the focus of her M.A. thesis between 2012 and 2013. She won the Ríocht na Midhe Postgraduate Prize for Research 2018 with an article on the commemorative minor placenames of Meath and Westmeath. She is interested in Irish folklore, dialectology and (minor) placenames. Her research looks at information about and from women in the folklore collection Seán Mac Mathúna (1876-1949) collected in north-west Clare. Michelle is interested in the folklore, Irish-language dialects, literature and (minor) placenames of Ireland.
