Manual Handling Training

Almost everyone on campus is involved in manual handling activities. To ensure all staff have the knowledge and skills required to carry out manual handling safely, the Health and Safety Office has developed an online training course entitled "Training Essentials for Manual Handling." All new staff will be enrolled on this course and will be sent information on how to complete it via email. 

The course is available on Loop and takes approximately 30 minutes to complete. Once you have successfully completed the online training, you will be invited to attend a practical manual handling session delivered by a member of the DCU team. These sessions are held regularly on both the Glasnevin and St Patrick's campuses and last approximately 20–30 minutes.

Staff whose roles involve a significant amount of manual handling will be required to attend a half-day, in-person manual handling course. If this applies to you, your manager will advise you accordingly.
