DCU students give masterclasses to Ballymun FUTSAL students
As part of the series of Master Classes delivered by a group of final year students from DCU School of Health and Human Performance for Ballymun Project FUTSAL hub participants, a visit to the Irish Wheelchair Association was arranged where several Sport Science and Health students conducted an Adapted Physical Activity session. Project participants were put through their paces by acting out how players with disabilities participate in sport. The video shows project students learning how to coach using wheelchairs.
A big thank you to Christina Duff, James Geraghty, Ciaran Walsh, John Mulroy, Jonathan Cooper, Michael Stevens, Richard Blain, and Shane Gore who delivered a range of Sports Master Classes on DCU campus. The group also acted as mentors for Ballymun Project FUTSAL participants and are great role models and ambassadors for the University.
A range of Master Classes included:
Athletic Testing & Performance Analysis
Periodisation, Strength & Power
Speed, Agility & Injuries
Adapted Physical Activity
Nutrition
Coaching Strategies & Psychology
This is a pilot programme, supported by DCU lecturer Dr. Giles Warrington, Chair of Sport Science and Health at the School of Health and Human Performance, demonstrating a strong campus-community partnership and commitment to knowledge sharing.
