The Dead of the Irish Revolution book launch

The Dead of the Irish Revolution, a landmark new book by Dr. Daithí Ó Corráin, of the School of History & Geography in Dublin City University and Prof. Eunan O’Halpin of Trinity College Dublin is the first comprehensive account to record and analyse all deaths arising from the Irish Revolution between 1916 and 1921.

The turbulent period between 1916 and 1921 witnessed the Easter Rising of 1916, the War of Independence, the partition of Ireland and ultimately the formation of the independent Irish state. 

 Eunan O’Halpin and Daithí Ó Corráin identify 2,850 men, women, and children who died during the years of rebellion and state formation. The Dead of the Irish Revolution provides a unique and comprehensive picture of all those who died: where, why and by whose hand. Through their stories we obtain original insight into the Irish Revolution itself.
