About this Event

About the ECIU University:

The ECIU University is an initiative of the European Consortium of Innovative Universities (ECIU alliance)creating a ground-breaking and innovative educational model on a European scale. Member institutions span across Europe, from Ireland to Lithuania, from Finland to Spain, totalling 12 countries.

The ultimate goal of the ECIU University project is to establish a true European University where learners, researchers, business, public organizations and citizens are enabled to create relevant innovative solutions for real life challenges with real societal impact.

This initiative (2019-2022) is co-funded by the European Commission as part of the Erasmus+ programme.

About the event:

As part of this project, the ECIU University seeks to imagine what an ECIU University Citizen Science Hub should look like and its role in challenge-based research. How do we define, promote, and develop citizen science across the ECIU University communities? What should the Citizen Science Hub’s priorities be? How do we make sure that we build an inclusive Hub of value to both the local and academic communities, and to the ECIU University? What can we learn from each other in the process?

Please join us at our online consultation event, when we want to gather the perspectives of a variety of stakeholders, including researchers with experience of and/or interest in Citizen Science, research support staff, and researchers’ training experts, and discuss the role and place of Citizen Science in the ECIU University.

The consultation will take the form of an online interactive session with a panel discussion moderated by a Citizen Science expert interspersed with online voting polls, followed by a Q&A, giving everyone in the audience an opportunity to actively contribute to the consultation.

Panel members include: Professor Eglė Butkeviciene (KTU, Lithuania), Professor Veronica Lambert (DCU, Ireland), Professor Maurizio Marchese (UNITN, Italy), Dr. Fernando Vilariño (UAB, Spain), and Dr. Sabine Wildevuur (UT, Netherlands). The event will be moderated by Dr. Xavier Ariño Vila (UAB, Spain).

The event is open to postgraduates, academic and professional staff members working in an ECIU member university.

Please register by 27 November so we can send you the Zoom link by email before the event.
