The Observatory on Cyberbullying, Cyberhate and Online Harassment under DCU Anti-Bullying Centre, invites everyone interested to join the third webinar on the subject. This seminar will focus on hate speech and hate in online humour. We will be joined by two speakers:

Dr Sebastian Wachs, Deputy Professor for Education and Socialisation Theory at the University of Potsdam (Germany) and Honorary Research Fellow at the DCU Anti-Bullying Centre.
Dr Wach’s presentation is entitled: “From Hate Speech to HateLess: The Transfer of Scientific Knowledge to Prevention Work” In the webinar, he will present the newest research on hate speech among adolescents and how he has used the empirical findings to develop the evidence-based prevention program HateLess.

Dr Maja Brandt Andreasen, Postdoctoral Researcher at the DCU Anti-Bullying Centre.
Dr Andreasen’s talk has the title: “Just joking? Hate, humour and Internet memes” and will be discussing how online humour sometimes reproduces misogyny, racism and homophobia.

The webinar is organised by the Observatory on Cyberbullying, Cyberhate and Online Harassment, based at DCU Anti-Bullying Centre. The Observatory is funded by the Irish Department of Justice.
