Undergraduate Courses at DCU

Campus closure due to Storm Barra - Tuesday December 7th

UPDATE: All DCU campuses will be open Wednesday, December 8th. All scheduled online and on-campus exams will go ahead.

All Dublin City University campuses will close tomorrow (Tuesday, December 7th) due to an Orange Weather Warning from Met Eireann for Storm Barra and in line with advice from the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science.

Staff (and students) are advised not to come to campus and are expected to work from home, except staff critical to maintaining a safe campus, to protect equipment and resources or carry out time-sensitive critical activities. If staff members are planning on travelling to campus please keep up to date with the latest travel and weather advice as your own safety is a priority. You should also log onto the SafeZone App while you are on campus.

The Ballymun Road entrance to the Glasnevin campus will be closed - access via Collins Ave entrance only. All buildings across the campuses will be on swipe access.  For access to buildings that are not on swipe, please contact security.

All campus catering and retail outlets will be closed. The Sports Complex/Sports Facilities and Libraries will also be closed.

The HSE pop-up COVID19 vaccination clinic that was due to operate in the U on the Glasnevin campus tomorrow is cancelled.

Exams

  • Due to adverse weather conditions and potential power outages all exams scheduled to be conducted online or on campus tomorrow Tuesday are postponed. DESC (Exam Support Centre) will not operate. The Registry team will communicate with students directly regarding the rescheduling of these exams; where possible they will take place within the published examination period.
  • Exams will resume Wednesday Dec 8th, weather permitting. If this changes, updates will be provided on the DCU webpage and social media and Registry will communicate via email with students.

In as much as is possible, university operations will continue, with colleagues working remotely. It is anticipated that the worst of the storm will have passed the Dublin area by tomorrow afternoon and the University will reopen as normal on Wednesday morning.

Students residing on campus should avoid unnecessary travel tomorrow and stay indoors, as per the advice from the government.

Further information will follow to students. Updates will be provided via email, the website and social media.
