DCU ranked 117 in the Young University Rankings

DCU placed 117th in The Times Higher Young University rankings

Dublin City University was ranked 117th in The Times Higher 2021 Young University rankings. DCU was the only university to see an increase in scores across all five ranking areas - citations, industry income, international outlook, research and teaching.

The Times Higher Education Young University Rankings list the world’s best universities that are aged 50 years or under. They aim to highlight a new breed of high-performing universities that have managed to join the world elite over decades rather than centuries, and that have the potential to become the next global academic powerhouses.

Speaking about the rankings, Prof. Daire Keogh, President of DCU said

“These rankings reflect the engagement and positive impact of DCU staff during a hugely challenging period for Higher Education Institutions worldwide. I particularly welcome DCU’s unique achievement in advancing our position across all five ranking areas.

The innovative and entrepreneurial spirit of Young Universities such as DCU will be more important than ever as we address the realities of a post-COVID world.”

The rankings represent close to 500 universities across 68 territories. There were 15% or 61 more universities ranked in 2021 versus 2020. The UK was the most represented country with 37 institutions ranked. The No. 1 ranked young university in the world in 2021, according to Times Higher, is Nanyang Technological University Singapore.
