Research excellence ensures DCU maintains position in global university rankings

A world-class ranking for research has ensured Dublin City University maintains its position in the top 600 universities in the world (501-600).

The Times Higher Education World University Rankings is the only global performance table that judges research-intensive universities across all their core missions: teaching, research, publications, industry outcome and international outlook.

The tables published today show that DCU performed particularly well for research, ranking 328 out of 1662 universities globally for this metric, which looks at the volume of research being carried out, the income it has generated and the university’s global reputation.

Welcoming DCU’s success in these published rankings, President of DCU, Professor Daire Keogh, said:

“These global rankings affirm the excellence and positive impact of DCU, right across the University’s core activities. In particular, we are delighted to see the rankings’ affirmation of our world-class researchers, with their focus on creating knowledge that benefits our society and economy. I want to thank all our staff at DCU for the hard work and commitment that has contributed to our continued status as one of the world’s leading Universities.”

A total of 1662 universities were ranked globally for the 2022 edition, drawing on data points of the world’s leading research universities and more than 22,0000 academic reputation survey responses. The exercise also analyses 13.6 million research publications and over 86 million citations over five years.
