Overview

This degree program brings together social science with technology. Students study topics such as climate change, politics, international development, data analytics, artificial intelligence, public policy, security, peace studies and ethics.

Programme Outline

During the first three years, prior to INTRA, students study: Exploring and Defining Problems;
Shaping Global Leaders; Art and Science of Solution Design; Creating Impact in a Changing World;
Exploring and Enabling Technologies. They complete two design challenges, one “where there is no engineer” and the other “AI for Global Challenges”.

INTRA (INtegrated TRAining) Work Placements

Relevant work experience through DCU’s internship programme “INTRA” (INtegrated TRAining) is a mandatory element of the BSc in Global Challenges. Students are required to complete an eight
month INTRA placement at the end of third year, from January to September. Vacancies areadvertised to INTRA Students from September onwards.
