Psychology Laboratory Facilities
Psychology Laboratory Facilities
The School of Psychology has a dedicated computer lab for the teaching of statistics and research methods; the lab also allows students access to a range of psychological software such as SuperLab and E-Prime. For research purposes, we have dedicated rooms for carrying out computer-based experiments, pen and paper based exercises and interviews. More specialist research can be undertaken in one of our research labs.
EEG Laboratories
Our EEG labs have state-of-the-art electroencephalogram (EEG) recording equipment for research into the neural bases of cognition. One of these labs has an isolated shielded room for EEG recording and an adjacent control room. The labs are equipped with 128-channel and 32-channel recording systems.
Visual Cognition and Psychomotor Laboratory
Our Visual Cognition and Psychomotor Lab utilises physical devices and computerised experimental tasks to investigate visual cognition and mirror tracers and computer based digitising screen technologies for psychomotor research.
Eye Tracking Laboratory
Our Eye Tracking Lab houses desktop and mobile eye tracking systems to monitor conscious and unconscious gaze movements.
Virtual Reality
Our Virtual Reality (VR) Lab provides access to modern emerging VR technologies (including Oculus Rift and HTC VIVE) to facilitate research in social and cognitive psychology.
Clinical Neuropsychology Lab
Our Clinical Neuropsychology Lab has a wide range of specialist equipment and standardised assessment tools to support research into neurocognitive and behavioural problems associated with neurological and neuropsychiatric conditions (e.g. epilepsy, MS, TBI, dementia, addiction disorders, feeding disorders) as well as neurodevelopmental conditions such as ASD, dyslexia and ADHD.
Behavioural Neuroscience Laboratory - Neuropsychopharmacology Unit
The Neuropsychopharmacology Laboratory is seeking to understand the biological processes that underlie reward, addiction, impulsivity and other personality traits, and cognition in the brain. Our Laboratory has expertise in basic research behavioural procedures and applies them for the further understanding of the brain reward system and the interactions between drugs.
