'Othmar KARAS meets with Professor Philip McDonagh'

On Friday 28th October, the Director of the Centre for Religion, Human Values, and International Relations was invited to meet Dr. Othmar Karas, First Vice-President of the European Parliament responsible for the dialogue with churches, faith communities, and philosophical organisations (Article 17, TFEU).  The Vice-President acknowledged the groundbreaking character of DCU's work in bringing churches and faith communities together in Ireland/Northern Ireland to find a voice on public issues. This vision is relevant to peace in Ireland and to the purposes of Article 17.  Mr. McDonagh reported on his recent consultations with the bodies in Brussels representing, respectively, the Catholic bishops of the European Union and the Anglican, Protestant, and Orthodox churches. There is a common commitment to support Dr. Karas in his work.
