DCU Nursing Awards
Introduction
Welcome to the DCU Nursing Awards ,organised by Nursing Academic Group of the School of Nursing, Psychotherapy and Community Health. This awards have been announced in order to celebrate the Year of the Nurse and Midwife. The global outbreak of Covid-19 has led to the postponement of many events to celebrate the International year of the Nurse and Midwife, and Florence Nightingale's bicentenary. Nevertheless, the pandemic has not dimmed the light on these professions but merely brightened it. Nurses and midwives have continued to do what they do every day, provide compassion, care and commitment to all, albeit in more precarious conditions.
Therefore, there has never been a better time to reward and recognise the valuable professional contribution of nursing staff and students. There are X award categories of which X focus on nursing students and clinical educators. This is important as one of the aims of our school is to promote, support and advance the nursing discipline, nursing research and nursing education. Nursing and midwifery students are our colleagues, and the healthcare decision makers of the future. On this journey, Preceptors and Clinical Placement Coordinators play a pivotal role in shaping and empowering students in their professional growth.
There will also be a National People’s Choice Award for Nurse of the Year which will be put out to a public vote. Once nominations have closed and our judging panel have created a shortlist of finalists, you’ll be able to vote for your winner in this category.
A quick overview of the X award categories, and who may nominate for each is provided below:
