Academic biography

Selina Coghlan BSc. MSc. RPN RNT

Selina Coghlan is an assistant professor in mental health nursing within the School of Nursing, Psychotherapy and Community Health, Dublin City University.

Selina has held a variety of clinical roles in the areas of Acute Care, Rehabilitation, Continuing Care and Psychiatry of Later Life. Selina has engaged in the continued professional development of nursing staff and members of the multi-disciplinary team; facilitating education and training in the area of recovery orientated practice and the therapeutic management of violence and aggression. Selina has worked on National Projects as a member of the Strategic Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing Group - guiding the profession of mental health nursing in line with national guidance and legislation.

Selina's teaching and research interests focus on educative approaches within mental health nursing and the health and mental health of staff groups.
