Dr Denise Harold is a Lecturer in Genomics in the School of Biotechnology at Dublin City University and is the Programme Chair of the BSc Biotechnology degree programme. Denise obtained a joint honours BSc degree in Zoology and Molecular Genetics from University College Dublin, and a MSc Medical Molecular Genetics (with Distinction) from the University of Aberdeen. She completed her PhD in Genetics in 2004 at Cardiff University, and has subsequently been involved in several international collaborations that have led to the identification of over 20 susceptibility loci for late-onset Alzheimer's disease (AD). Her current research interests involve the genetic epidemiology of complex traits, particularly AD, and the investigation of the molecular mechanisms underlying genetic association signals.
