Finding Our Voices: A Collaborative Creative Response to Planetary Crises

On Thursday 19th June, Dr. John White attended a workshop, hosted by our colleagues in the Centre for Human Rights and the Citizenship Education (CHRCE), entitled: "Finding Our Voices: A Collaborative Creative Response to Planetary Crises".

The CHRCE were working in collaboration with Lucy Rivers, an award winning composer, performer, writer and lyricist. More information about Lucy can be found here

Lucy and the CHRCE team provided participants with the opportunity to express their responses to planetary crises through an arts-based lens, with a strong focus on creativity. This approach mirrors the centre’s focus on examining imaginative solutions to sustainability and our planetary crisis. A wide range of activities were planned, to include movement, music, singing, painting, drawing, collage, mindfulness and dance. This nonverbal focus to changemaking seems fitting. Our oceans, skies, fish, bees, wildlife etc etc can only communicate with us in a nonverbal way.
