excellent entry-level academics and senior post-doctoral researchers

Application is made by the School

Schools in any engineering discipline, within any
Higher Education Institute in Ireland, are eligible to apply.

All prospective SFI Engineering post holders will be
expected to have a proven record of internationally recognised independent
research accomplishments and to have at least two years of independent
research experience beyond the Ph.D., or equivalent.

Candidates holding permanent posts in any Irish HEI are
ineligible for either the SFI Engineering Lectureship.

20% of funding must be sourced from industry sponsors

Up to 5 Years
Assessment Criteria:

The other criteria are based on the School

Candidates appointed to an SFI Engineering post are
obliged, as a condition of the award, to apply for a FES Investigator
Award or other significant grant, no later than 18 months following the
date of their appointment (although they would normally be expected to do
so much earlier).

Success in these programmes (or significant
international programmes such as ERC Researcher Award) will be taken as an
important index that the School has filled the SFI Engineering post with
an appropriately qualified candidate.
