DCU - LogoDCU International Visitors Programme

Value:

The level of award will depend on the cost of travel to Dublin and the time being spent at DCU. The maximum funding for a three-month award is €15,000.

Eligible:

  • The programme will support the costs of bringing individuals to DCU who have achieved a high level of distinction in their field, and whose presence on this campus is likely to have a significant impact.

  • Nominated Visitors should have a track record of international standing and be undertaking research in an area of relevance to current or planned research within the University.

  • They should be from a recognised international research group, and can be from academia, the public sector or the private sector.

  • They may be of any nationality, but the research group in which they are based must be outside the Republic of Ireland.

  • The Programme should be used to facilitate new collaborations, rather than supporting established collaborations.

  • The applicant should be based in a country that has a Double Taxation Agreement with Ireland (see list below).

  • Visits may involve a single period of stay, or a programme of stays, over a maximum period of three years.

  • Visitors will be expected to hold at least one research seminar or workshop during their tenure.

  • Applications under this Programme must be made through the host School, Faculty or Centre in DCU.

Duration:

The Programme will support visits for periods from one week up to a total of three months.

Assessment Criteria:

  • The standing and research profile of the proposed Visitor

  • The research record of both the University applicants and the Visitor

  • The planned programme of research – particularly the identifiable benefit to the University

  • The sustainability of the ongoing collaboration, and how the proposal fits with the University’s strategic priorities

  • The availability of funding

  • Strong preference is given to proposals that are of interest to more than one school or centre
