Up to €1 million direct costs

Eligible:

  • Awarded PhD or equivalent* no earlier than October 1st 2002.

  • Have not previously received an SFI award funded by the ICT or BIO Directorates. Researchers currently holding a Basic Research Grant or holding/applying for a Research Frontiers Programme Grant are eligible to apply.

  • Must be nominated by an Irish Research Body

  • Each candidate may only be nominated by one Research Body

  • Irish and foreign nationals, currently based anywhere in the world, who will conduct their research in Ireland.

Duration:

5 Years

Assessment Criteria:

  • Quality, significance, and relevance of the recent research record and potential of the proposed young researcher.

  • Quality, significance, and relevance of the proposed research, including the potential to advance knowledge and understanding within its own field or across different fields.

  • Quality, significance, and relevance of the proposed research’s potential contribution to fields that underpin Biotechnology, information and communications technology, or both, and to the economic, scientific, and educational development of Ireland.

*  MD degree or demonstrated research accomplishments measurable through metrics appropriate to the field of international research such as publications in peer review journals and awards.
