A. Reported Problems
When SIBYL was first launched, a small number of windows characters were not recognised by the system. This problem has now been resolved.
If you encounter any problems, please contact raymond.kelly@dcu.ie
B. Frequently asked questions
3. Does Grant title refer to the title of the project or the funding instrument?
4. Another issue has come up - that of impact factor - particularly for recent papers. All the references imported from RSS have impact factor unassigned, which the system accepts. For any new papers, people are being forced to include the impact factor indicator. Does this mean the journal (as any 07 paper can't have had much impact yet)? and if so, are you asking people to make a value judgment of the impact of this journal in their field (as compared to the high impact values of science journals etc?). Making this mandatory is a real pain, as it incurs quite a bit more time than cutting and pasting text.
Answers
Please specify the amount of money which will be available to DCU researchers.
A = Very Successful.
B = Successful.
C = Good.
D = Average.
E = Poor.
The reason for this is so that you can rank your grants. When using the CV builder, you can then choose to order your grants by year or by success. If you order your grants by success, within each success category, they will be ranked by year.
This feature is also available for publications.
3. Does Grant title refer to the title of the project or the funding instrument?
The Grant Title refers to the title given to the grant application by the author, e.g., "Novel Computational Methods for the Design of Therapeutic Implants".
It does NOT refer to the title of the funding instrument e.g., it is NOT "Research Frontiers Programme".

The "Impact Factor" does not refer to ISI assigned impact factors. It is a facility that is designed to enhance the CV builder function of SIBYL. The idea is that you would assign "very high impact" to what you consider to be your most important articles, and "poor impact" to what you consider to be your least important articles, with gradations in between. Then when you use the CV builder, you can choose to order your articles by "success" or "date". If you choose to order by success, your articles will be listed with the most important ones at the top. Thus, you could easily generate a report with your top five articles.
We want to emphasise that this feature is only for your own use. It will not be taken by OVPR or the Faculty as a judgement of your research success.
