Open Day Faculty of Engineering and Computing 2013

The Faculty of Engineering and Computing hosted another successful Open Day on Friday and Saturday 15th and 16th November. The Engineering building was buzzing with activity bringing in hundreds of students over the two days. There were plenty of interesting demos to see from both schools, including mobile and industrial robotics, biomedical devices, renewable energy systems and much more. Each year the engineers put on a wonderful show and it helps prospective students get a thorough insight into both Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering and Electronic Engineering in DCU. The School of Computing saw an increase in numbers at their talks again this year. Over 720 students attended the talks for Computing over the two days with more students asking more specific questions in relation to each degree. The demand for computing in DCU is increasing year on year with more students starting to programme at home in their own time. The ICT sector is thriving with vacancies and this message is clearly coming through to these students who were also keen to enquire about career prospects following graduation. There was a wonderful atmosphere in both the Engineering and Computing buildings and generally around the campus.
