The Faculty of Engineering and Computing is delighted to announce that Rory Assandey and Brian Walsh were two of nine DCU alumni who, on Friday 20th of January, were awarded the 2022 DCU Alumni Awards for their excellence and achievements in their chosen fields.

 

Rory Assandey

Rory Assandey, B.Sc. in Enterprise Computing (2014)

Rory Assandey, B.Sc. Enterprise Computing (2014), founded La Ruche Health, a Health Tech start-up backed by Google. La Ruche Health uses instant messaging & AI to connect communities to healthcare services in Cote d’Ivoire. The company aims to strengthen the management of health data and increase access to essential health services. La Ruche Health also supports the Ivorian national cancer program in improving access to oncology specialists, case management, and early detection of paediatric cancers.

Brian Walsh

Brian Walsh, B.sc. Financial & Actuarial Maths (2005), M.sc. Software Engineering in (2010)

Brian Walsh, B.sc. Financial & Actuarial Maths (2005), M.sc. Software Engineering in (2010), founded Réitigh Software in 2016 with Mark Sexton and Darragh Pelly, two other DCU graduates. Réitigh Software provides software services in the Irish marketplace and has specialists in the area of Business Analytics. The company has grown to a team of 20 full-time employees based in Ireland and Deloitte has listed it as the 3rd fastest growing technology company in the country.

The DCU Alumni Awards, awarded by the DCU Alumni Office, are given annually to DCU alumni who have achieved excellence in their chosen fields through their leadership and extraordinary ability. The DCU Alumni Awards gives DCU the opportunity to celebrate the alumni who have achieved so much at home and abroad. The accomplishments across so many aspects of society of the alumni who are honoured with this award, are an inspiration to present and future DCU alumni and a great source of pride to DCU.
