DCU Student Success in Smarter Travel Students Awards 2024

Two groups of first-year engineering students from DCU achieved great success this week at the Smarter Travel Student Awards 2024.

The Smarter Travel Student Awards Ceremony occurred on April 25th at the Lighthouse Cinema, Smithfield. This annual event invites students to create a project that promotes, facilitates, or enables sustainable and/or active modes of transportation to, from, and around campus, aligning with their field of study and personal interests. A panel of industry experts evaluate and judge each project submission, and then announce the overall winners at the ceremony.

The two skilful groups who were deservingly nominated for the awards in the ‘Engineering and Innovation’ category were made up of the following students:

  • Get a Grip: Shristi Sapkota, Irina Grigorescu, Julia Kowalska, Yi Qi Maegan Lee
  • Linear: Eva Thunder, Matilde Pena, Melodie Aremu, Aleena Anna Saji

Team ‘Linear’ were awarded runners-up at the awards ceremony for their incredible efforts and hard work. In addition, Dr Anne Morrissey from the School of Mechanical & Manufacturing Engineering was also very successful at this event, receiving the Recognition Award in the Engineering & Innovation Category.
