

DCU Engineering Students Honoured at National Smarter Travel Student Awards
As part of the Fundamentals of Professional Development module, students were tasked with developing innovative concepts that promote active and sustainable travel from campus. Their impressive entries gained national attention, with five DCU projects shortlisted in the prestigious Engineering & Innovation category, spanning digital design and social innovation.

Additional DCU student teams also received recognition in social marketing and advocacy categories, with creative campaigns including Cents for Steps, Keep Ruben Ribbiting, The Climate Cost of Your Commute, Active Transport Project, Go Green, Earn Gold, Step & Ride, Step Up Challenge, and Tap on Tap Off.
Although DCU did not take home any final awards, the university celebrates the strong presence of its students at the national level and applauds their innovative approach to sustainability.
A special congratulations is also extended to Dr Tanya Levingstone, who was recognised with a Lecturer Recognition Award for her outstanding mentorship and contribution to student development through the programme.
DCU continues to be a leader in embedding sustainability, innovation, and real-world problem solving into its curriculum. We commend all students involved for their passion, effort, and the example they are setting for the future of sustainable transport in Ireland.
