Academic biography
Dr. Faisal Zahoor is the Research Development Officer for the Faculty of Engineering and Computing at DCU, where he plays a key role in advancing the faculty’s strategic engagement with national and international research funding opportunities. He provides expert pre-award support for complex grant proposals, with a particular focus on large-scale, multi-partner initiatives.
Dr. Zahoor is an experienced Research Development Specialist with a strong track record in managing high-value international research programmes and securing competitive funding. Prior to joining DCU, he managed a €4.3 million Horizon 2020 project at University College Dublin, coordinating a global consortium of universities and industry partners across the EU, UK, and Australia.
At Insight@DCU Ireland’s largest Research Centre for Data Analytics, he served as Funding Development Officer, leading the Centre’s non-Exchequer funding strategy, delivering researcher training, and supporting Horizon 2020 proposal development.
His earlier roles include project management in Ireland’s agri-research sector and academia, where he led multi-institutional research initiatives, mentored early-career researchers, and promoted industry-academia collaboration at UCD. Dr. Zahoor has also worked as a lecturer and research officer at Teagasc, and previously served as an Assistant Professor abroad.
He holds a Ph.D. and a professional certification in Research Administration from the European Association of Research Managers and Administrators (EARMA).
