Hundreds of educators from across Europe attend DEAPS seminar
The online symposium derived from a three-year Erasmus plus European Union funded project entitled ‘Distributed Evaluation and Planning in Schools’ (DEAPS) that commenced in September 2017 and concluded in October 2020. The symposium explored how the role of parents and students is being received and implemented in school evaluation policy and practice and within this, identifes the hindering and facilitating f(a)ctors that supports such engagement.
The seminar saw inputs from the project partners from Portugal, Belgium and Bulgaria which drew on the work of this consortium since 2017. Speaking after the event the PI and EQI Research Director, Dr. Martin Brown said;
This has been a hugely successful and important project that has allowed us to explore the nature and reality of multiple stakeholder voice in European schools. We have been lucky to have a committed and skilled project team who brought the unique experiences of the Portuguese, Bulgarian, Irish and Belgian education systems to our discussions. The work that has been developed is now available on the project website and I think anyone who is interested in student and parent voice in education should go there to have a look at what has been produced.
