Professor Joe O’Hara Appointed to EUNICE Expert Advisory Board
Professor Joe O’Hara, Co‑Director of the Centre for Evaluation, Quality and Inspection (EQI) at Dublin City University, has been appointed to the Expert Advisory Board of EUNICE – the European University for Customised Education. This board, composed of eight members, has been established to provide strategic guidance to the EUNICE alliance as it develops its transnational educational and research agenda.
EUNICE is a European University Alliance funded by the European Commission under the European Universities Initiative. It brings together ten public universities from Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Spain, and Sweden. With over 150,000 students and 15,000 staff, the alliance seeks to offer customised, interdisciplinary education while contributing to regional development and cross-sectoral innovation.
The Expert Advisory Board plays a central role in advising on the implementation of EUNICE’s strategic priorities. These include fostering flexible learning pathways, enhancing inter-university collaboration, and aligning education and research with societal needs. Professor O’Hara’s appointment reflects a broader recognition of the importance of expertise in evaluation, quality assurance, and policy development in supporting these goals.
His participation in the Board aligns with EQI’s longstanding engagement in European education networks and will contribute to shaping the evolving landscape of collaborative university alliances across Europe.
